A roundup of police predators
Welcome to Police Predators, a side project that documents child sexual abuse by law enforcement officers. Every month, I’ll be doing a roundup of all the stories I could find about cops that were charged with, convicted of, and/or sentenced for their crimes against minors.
Mason Jordan, a former Honolulu, Hawaii police officer, pled guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child, two counts of coercion and enticement and one count of cyberstalking. Jordan planned “elaborate ruses” to lure children into prostitution and assaulted them. He also planted hidden cameras to watch minors bathe and blackmailed a woman he met while on duty. He faces up to 55 years in prison. Original story here.
Paul Emerson Schofield, a former corrections officer at Jefferson City Correctional Center in Missouri, was sentenced to 40 years in federal prison without the possibility of parole for one count of conspiracy to produce child sexual abuse materials and one count of producing child sexual abuse materials. He and his wife sexually assaulted minors, filmed it, and traded the videos with others via Kik. They will also spend the rest of their lives on supervised release once they are released from prison. Alaa Bartley, a Phoenix, Arizona police officer, was arrested and charged with receiving and being in possession of child sexual abuse materials. Bartley allegedly admitted to being a pedophile while messaging a the woman who ultimately sent him child sexual abuse materials. Original story here.
Lonnie Everill, a federal probations officer, was arrested for crimes related to child sexual abuse materials. Everill allegedly had almost 40 lewd images of minors, some toddlers. Everill was caught by an undercover agent who was posing as a 9 year old girl when he purchased plane tickets to meet up with the supposed minor. Original story here.
Dustin Keith Duncan, a former Gainesville, Florida police officer, was arrested and charged with indecency with a child by sexual contact. Duncan resigned following his arrest. Original story here.
Martice D. Porter, a Niagara Falls, New York police officer, was arrested and charged with three counts of third-degree rape. Porter allegedly maintained a sexual relationship with a minor. Original story here.
Monte LaVelle Chitty, a former police officer who worked in multiple cities in Alaska, was arrested and charged with sexual battery, lewd and lascivious molestation, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Chitty was working as a pastor at the time of his arrest. It was in his role as a pastor that Chitty allegedly sexually assaulted a 15 year old. Original story here.
Steven Kyle Cugini, a York, Pennsylvania police officer, was arrested and charged with raping a child under 13 years of age. Cugini allegedly sexually abused a 13-month-old baby. He initially claimed her injuries were due to diaper rash and the family dog, but has since admitted he caused them. Original story here.
Updates
Josue Garriga III was additionally charged with online enticement of a minor child to engage in criminal sexual activity, a federal charge.
Jose Hernandez pleaded guilty to an aggravated child abuse charge and received 10 years of probation.
Ryan Dornbos pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree involving a person less than 13 years old.
Matthew Richard Adamson was additionally charged in federal court with three charges of production and attempted production of child sexual abuse materials, one charge of coercion, and one charge of possession of child sexual abuse materials. Adamson pleaded not guilty.
Jerry Stinnett was found guilty of sexual exploitation of a child — 20+ items (video) and sexual exploitation of a child — possession of pornographic material. Stinnett could get up to six years in prison and will have to register as a sex offender.
