Welcome to Police Predators, a side project that documents child sexual abuse by law enforcement officers. Every month, I’ll be doing a roundup of all the stories I could find about cops that were charged with, convicted of, and/or sentenced for their crimes against minors.
Dominick Boschetto, an Auburn, Massachusetts, police officer, was arrested and charged with paying for sexual conduct with a child under 18 and enticing a child under 16. Boschetto was caught up in an online sting operation that saw 9 other people arrested. Boschetto allegedly agreed to pay for sex with someone he thought was a 15-year-old, but was actually an undercover detective, and later solicited photos from them. Original story here.
Caleb Sickinger, a former Jefferson County, Idaho, sheriff's deputy, pleaded guilty to 1 count of receipt of child sexual abuse materials. Sickinger posed as a woman and sent sexually explicit images of a girl he claimed was his daughter. In reality, Sickinger knew the woman and her daughter and had photos of the minor digitally altered to appear as though she were performing sexual acts. Original story here.
Gary Margerum, a retired Bucks County and Tullytown, Pennsylvania, police officer, was arrested and hit with charges related to child sexual abuse materials. In 1989, Margerum pleaded no contest to indecent assault for molesting a 15-year-old girl while he was on duty. He was given probation and community service. Original story here.
Mark Horstmeyer, a former Milwaukee, Wisconsin, police officer, pleaded guilty to 1 count of possession of child sexual abuse materials in exchange for 4 other charges being dismissed. Original story here.
Otilio Green, a police officer at Yale in Massachusetts, was arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials. Green allegedly had over 50 files that depicted child sexual abuse on his phone. Green could be facing 40 years in prison if convicted. Original story here.
Stephen Kamnik, a Pennsylvania State Police corporal, was arrested and charged with more than 550 counts, including sexual abuse of children. Kamnik allegedly kept a stash of pornography, including deepfake images and videos of children performing sexual acts. Kamnik allegedly created these files at work using department devices. He is also accused of secretly recording multiple women and entering the women's bathroom at his department to take photos. Original story here.
Joshua Min Kwon, a Henagar, Alabama, police officer, was arrested and charged with public dissemination of obscene matter involving minors. Original story here.
Earl Raynard Anderson Jr., a Detroit, Michigan, police officer, was arrested and charged with accosting a child for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime. Anderson allegedly sexually explicit messages to his 12-year-old stepdaughter. Original story here.
Andrew Eric Jensen, a Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, police officer, was arrested and charged with criminal sexual conduct. Jensen allegedly sexually abused a 6-year-old girl multiple times. Original story here.
Anthony Paul, a Virginia Beach, Virginia, police officer, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of custodial indecent liberties. Paul is accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy that was at his house for a sleepover. The victim's brother also alleged Paul groomed them both. Paul reportedly admitted to having some kind of sexual contact with the alleged victim but did not disclose details. Original story here.
Mitchell Walsh, a Fall River, Massachusetts, police officer, was arrested and charged with enticing a child under 16, attempting to commit a crime, sexual conduct with a child under 18, and possession of drugs. Walsh was caught as part of a sting operation designed to ensnare would-be sex traffickers. Walsh allegedly maintained a conversation with someone he believed to be a 15-year-old girl but was an undercover officer. Original story here.
Justin Perez, a Springfield, Connecticut, police officer, was arrested and charged with criminal attempt of risk of injury to a minor, risk of injury to a minor, criminal attempt of sexual assault, sexual assault, and enticing a minor under 18 by computer. Perez allegedly preyed on a minor at a high school where he served as an assistant athletic coach. Original story here.
Samuel Ray Ham, a former LaGrange, Georgia, police officer and public safety instructor, was arrested and charged with child molestation and aggravated sexual battery. Ham allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl. Original story here.
Charles Gardiner, a former tribal police chief in Cowlitz, Oregon, died by suicide. In the ensuing investigation, officials came across allegations that Gardiner sexually abused a minor and opened an investigation into those claims. Original story here.
Travis N. DeSouza, an NYPD officer, was arrested and charged with attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors in the first degree, official misconduct, obscenity in the third degree, and attempted endangering the welfare of a child in Queens. He was additionally charged with attempted disseminating indecent materials to minors in the first degree, attempted endangering the welfare of a child, and obscenity in the third degree in Brooklyn. DeSouza worked in the embattled Explorers program and was caught in a sting operation after it was suspected he exhibited inappropriate behavior as supervisor of that program. DeSouza allegedly sent sexually explicit messages to someone he thought was a 14-year-old girl but was an undercover officer. He has been suspended without pay. Original story here.
Christopher Noe, a former Dayton, Tennessee, police trainee, was arrested and charged with solicitation of a minor by an authority figure and attempted sexual exploitation of a minor by an authority figure. Noe allegedly maintained a sexual conversation with a minor, knowing she was underage. Original story here.
Edgar Kangaroo Jansons, a former Port Royal, South Carolina, police officer, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal sexual misconduct with a minor. Jansons allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old. He voluntarily resigned following the start of the investigation. Original story here.
Updates
Brian Zenszer pleaded guilty to 1 count of distribution of child sexual abuse materials and 1 count of possession of child sexual abuse materials.
Matthew Timm pleaded guilty to felony sexual abuse of children and incest. Timm was sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
James Weems was sentenced to life in prison.
