Welcome to Police Predators, a side project that documents child sexual abuse by law enforcement officers. Every month, I’ll be doing a roundup of all the stories I could find about cops that were charged with, convicted of, and/or sentenced for their crimes against minors.


Mark Burhoe, a police sergeant in Montgomery County, Maryland, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. Burhoe is a 20-year veteran of the force and is currently suspended without pay. Original story here.

Carle Miranda Blum, a sheriff's deputy in Miami-Dade County, Florida, was arrested and charged with receipt of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors and production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors. Blum is alleged to have travelled to Georgia to sexually assault a 17-year-old victim and recorded it. Original story here.

David B. McDaniel, a retired officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, was arrested and charged with child sexual abuse. McDaniel is the 3rd IMPD officer charged with crimes related to child sexual abuse since January 2024. Original story here.

Peter Benedict Jr., a retired police captain and school resource officer in Brighton Township, Pennsylvania, was arrested and charged with 11 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material and 1 count of criminal use of a communication facility. Original story here.

Sydney Mills, a Saugerties, New York police officer, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal sexual act, third-degree rape, third-degree criminal sexual act, and third-degree sexual abuse. Mills allegedly sexually abused a 14-year-old, including while he was in uniform. Original story here.

Saul Duran, a police officer in San Jose, California, was arrested and charged with 5 counts of lewd and lascivious acts involving a child. Duran allegedly sexually abused a minor over the course of 4 years between 2008 and 2012. Original story here.

Jesus Damien Nieblas, a former sheriff's deputy and school resource officer in San Miguel County, Colorado, was issued a warrant for 28 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and 27 counts of persons required to report child abuse or neglect. Nieblas resigned from his position shortly before an investigation into his alleged crimes was opened. Investigators are currently searching for his whereabouts. Original story here.

Sinmi Asomuyide, a former police officer in Kokomo, Indiana, was arrested and charged in federal court with deprivation of rights and witness tampering. Asomuyide was also charged last year in Howard County with minor sexual misconduct, sexual battery, child seduction, and official misconduct. Asomuyide allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old runaway after kidnapping her and handcuffing her in the front seat of his squad car. Original story here.

Jason Scites, a former police officer in Van Buren, Arkansas, was arrested and charged in relation to stalking and child sexual abuse. Scites allegedly sent inappropriate messages to a 14-year-old on TikTok, asking to meet her and touch her. Investigators took over the victim's account and invited Scites to meet at a gas station, where he was arrested. Original story here.

Curlon Edwards, a police officer in Baltimore, Maryland, was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape, assault, reckless endangerment, and false imprisonment. Edwards allegedly maintained a relationship with a 16-year-old, physically and sexually abusing her after accusing her of cheating on him. He is currently suspended without pay. Original story here.

Joshua Uhlman, a former sheriff's deputy in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, was indicted on 2 counts of production of child sexual abuse materials and 1 count of receipt of child sexual abuse materials. This is the second time Uhlman was arrested this year; he was charged with multiple counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile in February for allegedly following children and taking photos of them urinating and offering alcohol and money in exchange for sexually explicit photos of minors. Gregory Wayne Freeman, a former TSA agent in Florida, was arrested and charged with 15 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. This is Freeman's second arrest in relation to child sexual abuse materials within the last year. He was arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials in November 2024. Gary Wayerski, the former police chief of Dunn County, Wisconsin, was released from prison after serving a 14-year sentence for child enticement, sexual assault of a minor, and exposing himself to a minor. Wayerski will be under supervised release for 16 years and must register as a sex offender for life. Wayerski sexually assaulted a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy he claimed to have been mentoring. Updates

Jesus Lopez Jr. pleaded guilty to receipt of child sexual abuse materials. Lopez faces between 5 and 15 years in prison if convicted, followed by a minimum of 5 years under supervised release and sex offender registration.

Owen Halls pleaded not guilty to 2 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. Halls faces between 6 and 30 years in prison if convicted, followed by up to 20 years of supervised release.

Brian Zenszer was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being found guilty of 1 count of distribution of child sexual abuse materials and 1 count of possession of child sexual abuse materials.
