Welcome to Police Predators, a side project that documents child sexual abuse by law enforcement officers. Every month, I’ll be doing a roundup of all the stories I could find about cops that were charged with, convicted of, and/or sentenced for their crimes against minors.
Timothy Ryan Gregg, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations and a task force officer with the FBI in Eagan, Minnesota, was arrested and charged with coercing and enticing a minor victim to take part in sexually explicit conduct to produce child sexual abuse materials. Anthony John Crowley, an officer with Customs and Border Protection in Minnesota, was arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials. He is the second federal officer in Minnesota arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse materials in Minnesota this month. Original story here.
James Dodson, a Frederick, Maryland, police corporal, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of solicitation of a minor, 1 count of possession of child pornography, and 1 count of criminal use of a communication facility. Original story here.
Samuel Weimer, a former police officer in Show Low, Arizona, was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison, followed by 20 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to possession of child sexual abuse materials. Weimer used a chat room to express his interest in a man's 11-year-old daughter and sent him child sexual abuse materials. Original story here.
Gabriel Thomas Slusher, a former police officer in the METRO system in Houston, Texas, was arrested and charged with attempting to commit sexual performance by a child under 14. Slusher allegedly requested sexually explicit photos from a child he believed to be 8 years old. It was actually an undercover officer. Original story here.
Patrick Doran, a former sheriff's deputy in Dukes County, Massachusetts, was indicted on charges of possession of child sexual abuse materials. Doran allegedly solicited and shared sexually explicit images of a 14-year-old girl. Investigators say Doran was in possession of over 1,200 files of child sexual abuse materials. Arthur Green, a police corporal in Shreveport, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with 1 count of first-degree rape. Green allegedly sexually abused a juvenile family member. Original story here.
Jonathan Koritzer, a former sheriff's deputy in Baltimore City, Maryland, was arrested and charged with sexual abuse of a minor. Koritzer allegedly abused the victim for 3 years, starting when she was 14 years old. Original story here.
Paul Downey, a police sergeant in Boston, Massachusetts, was arrested and charged with 4 counts of aggravated rape of a minor, 2 counts of sexual conduct with a child under 18, and 2 counts of electronic enticement of a child for sexual activity. Downey allegedly met a 14-year-old boy on Grindr and raped him more than once, paying him $50 the first time and $80 the second time. Downey has been with the Boston Police Department since 1991. Robert Mincks, a former police officer in Madison, Florida, was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior. Mincks allegedly sexually abused a minor under 12 years of age. Original story here.
John Porter, the former police chief of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 7 years in prison after being found guilty of 3 charges of rape of a child. Porter sexually assaulted a student at Hopkinton High School, where he was a school resource officer, some 20 years ago. The victim was 14 years old at the time. Porter retired in 2023 after being put under investigation. Original story here.
Ashley Wilson, the police chief of Nicholls, Georgia, was arrested and charged with 3 counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes, 1 count of criminal attempt to commit child molestation, and 1 count of violation of oath of office. Wilson allegedly sent the 15-year-old victim multiple sexually explicit messages that were discovered by her mother. Original story here.
Christopher Guinup, a police officer in Fairmont, West Virginia, was arrested and charged with crimes related to sexual abuse of a child. Guinup's employment with the department was immediately terminated. Original story here.
Christopher Moorehart, a former police officer in Delcambre, Louisiana, was sentenced to 60 years in prison after pleading guilty to 2 counts of second-degree rape. Moorehart repeatedly raped his girlfriend's 5-year-old, including when they were in bed together. Original story here.
Updates
Anthony Kelly pleaded guilty to 1 count of second-degree distribution of child sexual abuse materials. The prosecution has recommended 7 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
Dan Roark was sentenced to 25 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release and lifetime sex offender registration.
Mark Horstmeyer was sentenced to 3 years in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release.
