Welcome to Police Predators, a side project that documents child sexual abuse by law enforcement officers. Every month, I’ll be doing a roundup of all the stories I could find about cops that were charged with, convicted of, and/or sentenced for their crimes against minors.
John Giarrusso, a Seabrook, New Hampshire, police officer, was arrested and charged for crimes related to child sexual abuse materials. Giarrusso allegedly exchanged sexually explicit messages with minors and disseminated child sexual abuse materials. He reportedly told them that girls called him "Officer Sexy." Original story here.
Joseph Taylor Dube, a Conway County, Arkansas, sheriff's deputy, was arrested and charged with sexually grooming a child and rape. Original story here.
Corey Nicholas Burcham, a Tuscaloosa, Alabama, police officer, was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. The Tuscaloosa police chief began termination and decertification procedures. Original story here.
Anthony Nickoles, an Anne Arundel County, Maryland, sheriff's deputy, was arrested and charged with 1 count of sexual abuse of a minor, 1 count of sexual offense in the third degree, 2 counts of sexual offense in the fourth degree, and 2 counts of assault in the second degree. The alleged victim was his 11-year-old stepdaughter. Original story here.
Ryan Moan, a Manchester, Connecticut, police sergeant and school resource officer, died by suicide after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a student. The 17-year-old victim was part of the Explorers program, wherein students interested in law enforcement get paired with police mentors. The Washington Post had published a piece about the use of this program by predator cops to abuse children. The victim is suing the city of Manchester. Original story here.
Joshua Oliver, a former Greensboro, North Carolina, police officer, was sentenced to a minimum of 64 years in prison. Oliver was found guilty of 6 counts of statutory sex offense and 6 counts of indecent liberties with a minor. He sexually abused a child under the age of 13 for 2 years. Original story here.
Benjamin McGilvray, a Monahans, Texas, police officer, was arrested and charged with 1 count of sexual assault, 2 counts of online solicitation of a minor, and 1 count of child grooming. Original story here.
Travis Hardwicke, a former Ishpeming, Michigan, police officer, was denied a motion to throw out a charge of first-degree sexual conduct. Another motion to get the alleged victim's medical records is under review. Hardwicke is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 17-year-old and providing alcohol to a minor. Amaris Howard, a Sardis, Mississippi, police officer, was arrested and charged with 3 counts of enticing a minor. Original story here.
Preston Wade Pietrzykowski, a state police sergeant in Texas, was arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials. Pietrzykowski's wife turned him in after allegedly finding images of nude minors on his hard drive. He was suspended from his position. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison. Paul McClain, a former San Diego State University police sergeant in California, was arrested and charged with possession of child sexual abuse materials. The alleged materials included depictions of children as young as 8 years old. McClain has 3 children of his own. SDSU said it had begun termination procedures. Original story here.
Brandon Mathiews, a former Temple, Texas, police officer, received an 8-year suspended sentence. Mathiews will not go to prison unless he violates the terms of his probation. He was found guilty of 6 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials and 1 count of invasive visual recording in a bath/dress room. Original story here.
Owen Halls, a former Neenah, Wisconsin, police officer, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials. Halls allegedly used Telegram and Kik to view sexually explicit content that included minors. He faces a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison if convicted on both charges. Jarrod Gailen Webster, a former Killen, Alabama, police officer, pleaded guilty to 1 count of deprivation of rights under color of law and 1 count of sexual exploitation of children. Webster allegedly solicited sexually explicit images from a minor over the course of 2 years. He also sexually assaulted a woman he pulled over in 2023 and was indicted on charges of sodomy and rape in March of 2024. Webster faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted. Original story here.
William Griswold, a former Monticello, Illinois, police officer, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of dissemination of child sexual abuse materials. Griswold was originally charged with 4 counts, but 2 were thrown out. He now faces up to 60 years in prison and lifetime sex offender registration. Original story here.
Kenneth McCord, a former investigator and state police sergeant in West Virginia, was indicted on 4 counts related to child sexual abuse materials. One of the two alleged victims was 15 years old. Original story here.
Updates
Casey Medina pleaded guilty to charges of possession of child sexual abuse materials and cyberstalking. Medina faces up to 10 years in prison.
Michael Kealty was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to coercion and enticement of a minor. Kealty groomed a 16-year-old for months, communicated with a 13-year-old in an attempt to solicit sexually explicit photos, and expressed his desire to rape Black and Latina women, like his "ancestors did in NC back when America was great."
Kevin Menon was indicted on even more charges, this time 28 counts of capturing the image of the private area of another person.
Joel Justice Womochil was sentenced to 60 years in prison for 2 counts of conspiracy to commit sexual exploitation of a child/production of child sexual abuse materials. Womochil had multiple videos of minors, including one who was younger than 5 years old and had a pacifier.
Jon Paul Foreman was indicted on 7 counts of encouraging child sex abuse in the first degree and 2 counts of attempted encouraging child sex abuse in the first degree.
Ryan Dornbos was sentenced to 10 to 40 years in prison, followed by lifetime monitoring and lifetime sex offender registration. Dornbos pleaded no contest to 1 count of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, with 2 other criminal sexual conduct charges dropped. Dornbos sexually assaulted his stepdaughter from ages 4 to 9.
